HOW
TO MEASURE FOR A BLOCKY DOGS®
COLLAR:

While
your dog is sitting or standing, without a collar on:
Measure around your dog’s neck then add four inches.
If you don’t have a tape measure then use a string
and measure the string.
Dog’s neck + 4 inches = Size collar to order

No
need for two fingers under the tape.
This will result in a collar that is too large.
Measuring
an old or current collar will not give you an accurate
measurement. Save yourself the disappointment
and measure your dog —
not their collar.
|

Measure
in the
middle of your dog's neck
- not too high where it tapers by the ears,
- not too low where it widens at the base.
- not too tight, where it's choking
- not too loose where it might be a necklace.
Just snug enough for a good fit.
If you have a breed with LOTS of extra skin
(some of the larger mastiffs and Neo's) or a dog
with very thick fur, make sure you account for the
excess by making sure the tape is pulled tight enough
to secure a good fit.

There are four hole adjustments
on every collar. Measuring correctly should create a
good fit on the second hole
leaving one hole to go smaller and two holes to go larger. |
Here
are some average sizes(in inches) for collars
by breed, so you can see if you are in the ballpark. Your
dog may be outside the range, but it should give you a general
idea if you've measured correctly.

Size for an adult, full-grown dog (not puppies)
Minimum
Collar Sizes:
Due to the width and weight, BLOCKY
DOGS ® collars
are not appropriate for all breeds. Even some of the smaller
APBTs and Staffies can be overwhelmed by a BLOCKY
DOGS ® collar.
For this reason, we have minimum size requirements (but
not maximum, so if you have a baby elephant, or even a
full-grown elephant, we can make a collar to fit ;)
Regular Flat or D-above
Buckle: will
not be made smaller than 20"
in length (which is 20", 19", 18", 17"
and will fit a dog whose actual neck is 15" or 16").
To fit into a 20" collar, your dog's actual neck
must measure at least 15".
BLOCKY DUAL Grips:
will not be made smaller than 22". To
fit into a 22" collar, your dog's actual neck must
measure at least 17".
